The 91st Annual Academy Awards took place in Los Angeles on February 24th. The red carpet was arguably the most noteworthy part of the show. Each year, celebrities come in their finest gear to either accept awards or support their friends in the industry. This year’s red carpet saw tons of beautiful scarves, each worn in their own unique way. Both men and women used scarves as a staple piece, showing that there is no such thing as Hollywood glamour without a nice scarf for every occasion.
“Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman took to the stage wearing a long black silk scarf to accompany a black sequined blazer, proving (along with others) that men do not have to stick to a boring tuxedo. This isn’t the first time that we’ve seen a man from Black Panther killing the scarf game. Remember Ryan Coogler’s scarf on the purple carpet?
Olivia Colman, winner of Best Actress for her role in “The Favorite” blessed the audience with her oversized grey silk organza scarf covered in Swarovski crystals. Her outfit took 1,209 hours to make, and given this scarf moment, we wouldn’t ask for an hour less. The Best Actress of 2019 showed us how a scarf can transform a look.
The 2019 Oscars was one of the most diverse shows that the Academy has had in the past 91 years. As diversity is celebrated, actors and actresses have taken to style to show just how important individuality can be. We love to see the many different ways in which scarves can be worn.
